RVC and Rockford Register Star Partner on “RVC DOWNTOWN”

Rock Valley College has a new downtown Rockford location.

Beginning with the spring semester of 2016, RVC will offer classes at its new downtown facility on the 2nd floor of the Rockford Register Star Tower at 99 E. State Street. The college is currently working with key partners to evaluate appropriate programs to be offered at the new location, but the goal remains to provide quality, accessible educational opportunities to students who may have barriers to accessing Rock Valley College’s main campus or Stenstrom Center.

“We are very grateful for the innovative partnership opportunity we have with the Rockford Register Star,” said Rock Valley College president Mike Mastroianni. “This location is excellent – providing even more space than our original location at Stewart Square – and will offer all the necessary classroom, computer lab, and study space to serve our downtown students.”

RVC’s original downtown location opened in the Stewart Square building in 2010 with just over 10,000 square feet of space.

The facility at the Rockford Register Star will provide approximately 14,000 square feet, with renovation work beginning shortly. Once completed, the location will include classroom, computer lab, office, and student study space. Opportunities for student services such as testing, advising and financial aid counseling will also be available.

The new location is ideal because of its accessibility by public transportation, with free parking and childcare options nearby.
